Maintenance

Now that you have completed your periodontal surgery, it is important that you maintain a good oral hygiene regime.

Maintenance therapy is purely designed to prevent periodontal disease from reoccurring.

During maintenance, your teeth and gums are checked (every four to six months), by a hygienist or the periodontist. If there are any new calculus deposits or plaque, this is removed and your teeth are also polished. Home care maintenance is checked and recommendations (if required) are made if changes need to be made to your home care.

Your maintenance can be continued by our hygienist or you can do this at your preferred dentist. If continued with our practice, we will contact you by phone (the month which you are due) and schedule an appointment.

Cost for the maintenance visit will be advised at the time we make your appointment.

It is also advisable that you maintain regular check ups with your dentist.

Should you have any questions regarding you maintenance please do not hesitate in contacting your dentist or periodontist.
